This past week and a half has been amazing Harry Potter wise. I got to go to a big HP trivia night and almost won! I dressed as Tonks for it. I saw Harry and the Potters on Sunday which was an amazing show and got to meet the band and hang for a bit to talk. They are so good! You have to see them live! And then I got to see the midnight release tonight with tons of other avid fans who dressed up and brought their wands just like me. I love these people!
Everyone keeps talking about it being the "end" and I know it is but I also know HP isn't going anywhere. I know at some point in the future there will be re-readings and movie marathons and other social things. I am already planning on seeing DH2 again and I have my friends and the Atlanta HP group who I already have plans to do things with. And whether or not JKR decides to give us more, there are all the kids and adults discovering the books and movies for the first time and we get to relive it with them as we see the wonder infect them too. Harry Potter is more than just a book or movie. It is a community sharing something wonderful and finding a connection through a great story about friendship, magic and love.
Harry Potter isn't over. It's just completed. There is a difference. I don't think it could ever be over, not while I'm around anyway.
To paraphrase Harry and Dumbledore, "It will only be gone when none here are loyal to it."
So Long live Harry Potter and the Wizarding World!!! Let the magic thrive!!
"These days are dark, but we won't fall!
We'll stick together through it all!
And what comes will come
And when it does
We'll meet it with all of our courage!
And the world is beautiful, just look around!
And the world is beautiful, just look at all your friends!"
